VOLUNTEER

Peninsula AEYC is always looking for volunteers to participate in our organization on commitees for a year or to assist with events and projects for a shorter period of time. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us and we will help find the right place for you depending on your skills, interests and time availability. Below are some of the particular areas we are looking for volunteers.

Public Policy Committee: we need at least three individuals to participate on our Public Policy Committee for this year (ending July 2006). This committee works with the committee chair to get information out to the membership regarding policies, legislation and other issues affecting early care and education. This committee will meet two to four times throughout the year, create articles for our newsletter and website, and possibly hold events to inform members.

Accreditation Committee: we need a chair person and two members for this committee for this year (ending July 2006). This committee works with early childhood education programs interested in or seeking accreditation through NAEYC. We are also hoping to expand the work of this committee to supporting family child care providers interested in or seeking accreditation as well, this year. This committee will meet two to four times throughout the year and develop events to support and educate members and programs regarding accreditation.

Based on feedback from members we are also hoping to increase our awareness and involvement of family child care providers, students and spanish speaking early childhood professionals. We encourage everyone interested in learning more about our organization or becoming more involved to come to one of our meetings or contact a board member.

We are very interested in increasing member participation and would appreciate contributions to our newsletter from family child care providers and students and would like to find some resources for translating our newsletter, website and having translation available at our meetings.
